A bit of an update on the event, how I got on and why you need to enter next year!

I've taken part in the Paisley 10k a few times because it's in my hometown and it's always a great event. Many times I've been a cheerleader, a runner and a fun-runner with one or both of my daughters and it was my absolute delight that we were all taking part again this year.
The day started out with a warm up with the 77 Run Club for a light and easy 3k the long way into the town centre. From there we had a quick visit to the portaloos, a chat and a photo (as above) at the Paisley Cenotaph. Lots more of our runners were around however the queues for the toilets, and how busy the area was did make it a little bit more difficult to find each other.
It was great to see our tshirts out in force (which you can buy here!) and you can see from the photos above just how busy the event was at the start.
The route comprises of a quick loop around Paisley Abbey before heading out to Underwood Road, towards St Mirren Park and Ferguslie Park area. The one thing about running around these areas is the support is fantastic and the roads are closed which means there's plenty of room to move around and get a bit of breathing room.
My lovely friend started running with me but as I was finding it rather hot and she's significantly faster than me, I asked her in the nicest possible way to beat it and off she went. I soon settled into a good pace for me, taking on water at half way before we approached the cycle path.

One of our lovely runners, Emily looking strong at the 10K!
As part of the 77 Run Club routes, we've been running this part of the cycle path regularly to familiarise ourself with the route so I found this section slightly better as I knew exactly where I was and how long it would take me to get to the centre of Paisley.
That being said, it's still a tough section with a lot of runners, being a warm day and all of a sudden hills appeared out of nowhere!
The remaining section of the Paisley 10K takes you up towards Coats church and the high street. Warning - this is a climb and the best thing you can do is grit your teeth and just get it done because the finish is downhill along the cobbles of the high street and a straight finish.

Just me enjoying the downhill finish!
The finish area does get a bit congested but this is a great opportunity to see friends, have a chat and get some photos....
Next up was the 3k fun run that both my daughters participated in. It was a warm day so I was properly knackered by this point but it was great seeing so many families taking part in this event.

I hope my review has perhaps given you the incentive to sign up next year, if not for the run at least for all the people you get to meet and connect with that you may only see on instagram!
